Ag showcased on campus

Non-agriculture students were invited to learn about agriculture at the fourth annual Ag Day On Campus. The Collegiate Farm Bureau hosted the event on April 22 on the west lawn next to the Markee Pioneer Student Center.

“I love seeing people’s reactions when they learn about agriculture and where their food comes from,” Ethan Olson, senior agriculture business major, said.
Brianna Reynolds, junior agriculture business major, was the chairperson for the fourth annual Ag Day celebration. Olson is the current president of the Collegiate Farm Bureau organization and was the chairperson for Ag Day On Campus last year, and had been guiding Reynolds with the preparation for this year.
The day was set up carnival style with booths that students and faculty were welcome to visit along with demonstrations and refreshments for sale.
All of the agriculture related organizations were invited to participate by providing a booth. Some of the booths had activities that visitors could participate in, such as hay bale tossing, calf bottle chugging, dice games, quiz questions and fun facts.
To help celebrate the day and the 100  year anniversary of the school of Agriculture, the theme of this year’s Ag Day On Campus was “pioneering the future of agriculture,” Reynolds said.
Gretchen Kamps, district coordinator for the Wisconsin Farm Bureau, helped the Collegiate Farm Bureau organization. Kamps said that the event was a success, sharing a little bit of agriculture with students who don’t normally get to learn and experience it.
