Exponent writers win awards for stories

Colten Bartholomew, junior communication technologies major, and Gerrad Frei, senior communication technologies major, were awarded for their writing skills from the Wisconsin Newspaper Association Foundation (WNAF) in the Collegiate Better Newspaper Contest.  Bartholomew, current Sports Editor on the Exponent, received second place in sports writing for his article outlining Bo Ryan’s visit to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville campus last spring.  Frei, current News Editor, received third place in general reporting for his story on the burning of the Chicago’s Best restaurant in August.

Stories submitted to the contest were judged based on the quality of the writing, and the winners will attend the annual WNA convention to receive recognition and to network with others in the journalism profession.

The Exponent is proud to have such talented and skilled writers on staff.  We hope to continue writing award-winning articles to give students, faculty and staff the best quality information at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.  Congratulations gentlemen.
