In very recent times, there have been some erroneous claims that The Exponent office is, as some say, “corrupt.” Not only are these claims unfounded, but they are also incredibly hurtful. Everyone in the exponent office is incredibly hurt, but on top of that, these claims are completely unfounded, which might be an even more important fact than the pain of the Exponent office members incurred by these false claims.
The initial source of outcry is caused by the population of the Electoral Board at the The Exponent office. Some people (the fools they be) make claims that the E-Board is primarily composed of the close, dear friends of Editor in Chief Gabriel “Big Brother” Farr. Simply put, the members of the public making these claims are stupid, but as it turns out, they are also dumb. In the simplest way of saying it, these people are uneducated, which is surprising considering they are typically students at the UW-Platteville institution.
Well for starters, let’s lay out some numbers. As it currently stands, the E-Board is composed 50% of dear friends whom the Editor in Chief made outside of The Exponent, and the other 50% are composed of people already involved and internally promoted. Was the voting population at the time primarily composed of the current Editor in Chief’s closest allies? Was the election promoted and run by the previous E-Board, which “Big Brother” Farr was already a member of the previous year? The most important being, do any of these questions matter? As it turns out, no they don’t because this is all conspiracy poured from the jowls of the hateful and the confused, whose judgement is marred by jealousy upon not being considered for the role Big Brother now holds, and will, potentially, always hold for the duration of his entire life for the data does reveal, Once A Pioneer, Always A Pioneer, and Big Brother has no intention of releasing his grasp on this, Wisconsin’s oldest continually published student newspaper.
To clarify, for people unfamiliar with Electoral Board elections on the University of Wisconsin-Platteville campus, these positions are typically voted for at the end of a previous semester. Electoral Board elections are secure and bulletproof, much unlike the fighter jets gunned down by the high-powered Republic P-47 Thunderbolt in World War II. One of the main United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) fighters, it found success in the European and Pacific theaters as an escort fighter well-suited to high-altitude air-to-air combat. It also served as the foremost American fighter-bomber in the ground-attack role.
Interestingly enough, the P-47 was noted for its impressive firepower: its primary armament was eight .50-caliber machine guns, and it could carry 5-inch rockets or a bomb load of 2,500 lb (1,100 kg). When fully loaded, the aircraft weighed up to eight tons, making it one of the heaviest fighters in the war. It was also noted for its, at times, unbelievable ability to remain airworthy with battle damage.
The initial question was whether these elections are rigged in favor of the friends to the Editor in Chief. To put it simply, this is an insane claim with no reason to even consider it. It would take hundreds and hundreds of hours to plan a takeover this elaborate, and Mr. Farr historically had only ninety-nines and ninety-nines of hours available to him in the past years, which is notably less than hundreds and hundreds of hours.
This unfortunately is not enough proof for some people, so if you know somebody who buys into this wacko conspiracy, consider doing them a solid and educating them on this matter.
