Do not be fooled by the title. This is most definitely NOT a cheesy teen girl book. Set sail with an unlikely cast of characters as Rachel Hawkins creates an intricate, heart-wrenching story following a woman in her early 20s. It is riddled with love, adventure, betrayal, and an eerily Lord of the Flies-esque twist. The plot switches between the past and the present, creating twists and turns at every flip of a page. At a certain point, I simply could not put the book down as I was racing to put the puzzle together. This book is certainly an easy read despite the complex way in which it is written. The tale Hawkins spins is immersive and emotional. I cannot recommend it enough.
