University of Wisconsin-Platteville student appointed to Platteville Taskforce

PLATTEVILLE—On Feb. 1, 2021, UW-Platteville student Brandon Snyder was appointed to the City of Platteville’s Taskforce on Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (TIDE). Below are his thoughts regarding the appointment:
“I am so emotional right now. I cannot explain how much this appointment means to me. As one of my lifetime goals, I want to serve our public, and this is the first step in the right direction.
I think my experience sitting on Student Governance is going to help me a lot. The University’s Student Senate, Residence Hall Association, United Greek Council, Segregated University Fee Allocation Commission and other governing bodies can help develop a student’s knowledge in how a ‘government’ works. I highly recommend for any student to join these bodies and help our university strive even more.
It is my intention to go to law school and possibly graduate school. I truly love learning, and it is such an honor to attend the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. I could not ask for a better undergraduate experience. I mean, look where I am now! Public office is my calling, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds.”
Snyder will sit on TIDE, which focuses on the City of Platteville’s 2021-2023 strategic plan for becoming a safe, welcoming and engaging community. The newly implemented inclusion, diversity and equity statement will allow this taskforce to provide policy recommendations for the City’s elected officials, based on the needs of the community.
