How To” by Randall Munroe, is a brilliant source of absurd ideas supported by facts and mathematics.
This book, as stated in the title, is “absurd scientific advice for common real-world problems,” and it stays true to this statement. It is filled with simple ideas or tasks that are then over-engineered or over-thought beyond reasonability.
One task mentioned in the book is how to have a simple pool party, and one proposed solution was to order bottled water online, then use a bottle shredder that filters out the water into a pool that so happens to be made from a thick layer of cheese to hold the water.
This book has a form of humor that everyone can understand and enjoy. The only possible repelling aspect of this book would be the use of many scientific theorems and equations that may go over the reader’s head.
However, math is only a small part of the problem most of the time. Overall, it is a great read for anyone of any background and is going to guarantee a smile.
