Taylor Jenkin Reid’s “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” is an amazing book. It follows a young unknown writer who has been tasked with writing a memoir about the famous fictional celebrity actress, Evelyn Hugo, a popular actress during the late 1950s before retiring in the late 1980s.
In those 30 years of filmmaking and acting, she was famous for her high fashion, exquisite lifestyle and constant scandal. However, now nearing the end of her life, she is ready to tell it all from her point of view and not hold back the truth.
Reid writes a great story about the pressures of a young actress trying to make her way in Hollywood but also about unexpected friendships, ambition and what it means to love, not only then, but now.
Having the famous actress talk to the reporter and bond over love and what it means to have love is great and helps tie the two women together in more than one way.
This is a good, strong book, and I would recommend it to everyone.
