Andrew John Hozier-Byrne, better known as Hozier, released his third studio album in Aug. 2023 called “Unreal, Unearth.” This album, which was written and worked on during the COVID-19 pandemic, was inspired by Dante’s Inferno and centers around the nine circles of Hell.
This album is over an hour long with popular songs like “Eat Your Young,” which is about greed, “Francesca,” about lust and “De Selby (Part 2)” which establishes the tone of the whole album. “Eat Your Young,” which was one of the first songs to come out, became popular on TikTok and is considered by many one of the best songs of the year in 2023. Despite not winning any awards, it topped several charts went it came out. Every couple of months he has released songs that have been cut from the album because of time like “Too Sweet” or “Nobody Soldier,” which fans have loved. His next set of unheard songs are set to be released in Dec. 2024.
This album is hauntingly beautiful with the vocals and folky pop that Hozier always brings to everything he sings. The love, lust, and panic are felt in everything, and it is an amazing journey to listen to.
