Fairy tales have been around for a long time and have undergone many rewrites and retellings over the centuries. The main reason these stories have endured is because of the Brothers Grimm. These two German academics traveled the countryside collecting fairy tales—but what if they did more than that?
“The Fairy-tale Detectives” follows the story of two young girls, Sabrina and Daphne Grimm, who end up in the town of Ferryport Landing after the disappearance of their parents. They are placed in the care of their grandmother, whom they didn’t even know existed, in a strange town filled with even stranger people. They quickly discover that the residents of this town are characters from storybooks and fairy tales—all of whom despise the Grimm family for trapping them there. Now, the girls must learn about their magical heritage and take on their duties as the latest descendants of the Brothers Grimm, protecting the town from its many dangers.
This is a fantastic young adult book for both children and adults. It features a wide variety of fun and interesting characters from different stories, making it an exciting read. The book also sets up a central mystery that spans the rest of the series, along with some intriguing villains for the girls to face. Overall, it’s a great, fun read.
