Batman has always been a popular superhero, and that makes sense—he’s been around since the 1930s, fighting crime and saving the world. Over the years, there have been countless versions of Batman in comics, TV shows and movies. However, more recently, the LEGO universe introduced its own take on the Dark Knight.
“The LEGO Movie” came out in 2014 and was a huge success, featuring many fun and interesting characters—one of them being LEGO Batman, voiced by Will Arnett. This version of Batman was so popular that a few years later, LEGO released “The LEGO Batman Movie.” Unlike the more serious portrayals of Batman, this movie leaned heavily into comedy, drawing inspiration from previous Batman iterations as well as films like “The Naked Gun” and “Airplane!” to create its unique and hilarious take on the character.
The movie kicks off with an action-packed and comedic fight scene between Batman and all his villains in LEGO form. The scene is full of energy and excitement, but it is soon undercut by a more somber moment, revealing that Batman is lonely and doesn’t have a life outside of crime-fighting. His loneliness worsens when the new police commissioner, Barbara Gordon, arrests all of Gotham’s villains, leaving Batman with an identity crisis. Now, he must choose between building a life beyond crime-fighting or doubling down and facing Joker’s latest plan.
“The LEGO Batman Movie” is an amazing film for everyone. All the characters are fun, engaging, and easy to root for. It’s packed with references and callbacks that hardcore Batman fans will appreciate, while also being accessible and entertaining for those who know little about the character.
