Rebecca Auborn, 33, has been indicted on murder charges for the deaths of at least four men in Columbus, OH, with authorities believing there may have been more potential victims.
Auborn is believed to have fatally drugged and robbed four men on Jan. 15, April 1, April 3 and June 17, according to a joint statement released by Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost and Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant. The statement also alleges that Auborn had attempted to drug and rob another man on Dec. 13, 2022. Authorities have not identified any of the victims.
Investigators believe there may be more victims that have not yet been identified. The investigation remains ongoing. Law enforcement agents are currently focusing on Auborn’s activities and whereabouts in northeastern Columbus between December 2022 and August of 2023.
The indictment alleges that Auborn gave the men fentanyl without their knowledge after getting them alone with the promise of sex, before robbing them. She is being charged with four counts of murder, four counts of involuntary manslaughter, five counts of aggravated robbery, five counts of felonious assault, five counts of corrupting another with drugs, one count of tampering with evidence and four counts of drug trafficking.
Auborn has plead not guilty to all 28 charges. She has also waived her bond.
Auborn’s attorney, Mark Hunt, told reporters that “this is a typical move in a case like this, where the defense hasn’t yet received evidence from the prosecution.”
Her indictment resulted from a joint investigation between the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations and homicide detectives from the Columbus Division of Police.
Auborn is currently being held in Franklin County Jail, awaiting trial.
“These indictments are a result of our close collaboration with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation,” Bryant continued. “The Columbus Division of Police remains dedicated to ensuring justice for all victims and their families affected by the actions of a single individual.”
