Sunday, Feb. 25 marked the 60th birthday of UWP’s radio station, WSUP. To commemorate the anniversary, a birthday party was held in Pioneer Tower.
Maddy Amodeo, the station manager, tells the Exponent, “60 years is something phenomenal when it comes to radio. Every day at this station has become a day where students have the opportunity to be a part of a community. I hope that this legacy continues far into the future.”
WSUP, which stands for Wisconsin State University-Platteville, is the oldest running student radio station in the UW system. Also known as The Evolution, WSUP is available to listen online and continues to broadcast at 90.5 MHz. All students at UW-Platteville are able to visit the station and broadcast their own radio show on air. Listening parties are held on Mondays at 7 p.m., which are also open to the public.
