American rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Los Angeles and Miami houses were raided by the Department of Homeland Security on March 25. The surprise search of the rapper’s homes is associated with an ongoing sex trafficking and racketeering investigation in New York.
Federal agents secured search warrants for the raid to seize any firearms Combs may have had in the residences, as well as to secure all video footage on phones, computers, drives and CCTV before any of it could have been altered or destroyed. Agents for Homeland Security reported that Combs’ houses have “hundreds of cameras” which may have captured some of his alleged sex crimes.
TV footage of the raids showed federal agents in combat gear and armed with rifles raiding Combs’ houses on Star Island in Miami and in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles. Two of the rapper’s adult sons were detained during the raid on the Los Angeles home but were released without charges.
Neama Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor and the president of West Coast Trial Lawyers, stated that the prosecutors involved in this case are most likely looking for evidence of “sex or drug trafficking, production of child pornography or firearms.” She went on to theorize that Combs would face charges in the upcoming weeks due to evidence found during the raid.
Four women have already come forward accusing Combs of rape, with the most prominent accusation being from R&B singer Casandra “Cassie” Ventura in a civil lawsuit filed in Nov. 2023.
In the lawsuit, Ventura claimed that Combs trafficked, raped and beat her multiple times from 2005 – 2018, including forcing the singer to engage in sexual activity with male prostitutes. Combs was also accused of recording Ventura in compromising positions without her knowledge or consent.
Combs and Ventura settled the lawsuit out of court, neither party has disclosed the terms of the settlement to the public.
Days after the lawsuit settlement, another woman alleged that she had been sexually assaulted by Combs in 1991 where she had been drugged to the point where she could not stand up and was then assaulted by Combs. The complaint additionally alleges that Combs recorded a video of the assault and showed the video to others in an act of revenge porn.
Four Jane Does and one John Doe have reportedly been interviewed by the Department of Homeland Security in relation to Combs allegedly being connected to drug and sex trafficking.
Combs is also facing a lawsuit filed against him in Feb. by music producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, who accused Combs of sexual misconduct, forced drug use and sexual grooming.
Aaron Dyer, Combs’ attorney, stated following the raid “There has been no finding of criminal or civil liability with any of these allegations. Mr. Combs is innocent and will continue to fight every single day to clear his name.”
No charges have been filed against Combs in relation to the raid. A telephone hearing is scheduled for April 9 for Jones’ case.
