After 7 long years of not having a lead vocalist, rock band Linkin Park is back in the spotlight.
Following rumors of a live event, the band put a livestream up on their YouTube channel with a countdown. When the countdown reached zero, it began counting back up until it reached 9:05, translating to Sept. 5. This was the date that Linkin Park would host their first live concert since 2017.
When the day came and the band came up on the stage, they started with a brand-new single titled “The Emptiness Machine”, and with it their new singer, Emily Armstrong, from the band Dead Sara.
The live stream lasted just over an hour with the band revisiting classic songs such as “In the End” and “Numb”.
As the concert was wrapping up, the band revealed that their next album “From Zero” would be releasing later this year on Nov. 15, along with new tour dates leading up to the album’s release.
However, this new singer doesn’t come without her controversies. In 2020, she showed support for now-convicted rapist and former star of That 70’s Show actor Danny Masterson but has since cut contact with him.
Furthermore, it has been revealed that she was involved with the Church of Scientology in the past, who’s principles disagree with the messages of most Linkin Park songs as they have a strong mental health message or undertone which the church does not believe in.
