UW-Platteville’s Career and Professional Development Office hosted the Spring 2025 Career Fair on Feb. 4, 5 and 6 in the Velzy Commons. This opportunity was offered as an in-person way to meet and talk to businesses and future employers.
Each day highlighted different majors and professions
On Feb. 4, Employers represented Agriculture, Biology, Business, Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, Education, and Liberal Arts from 9 a.m. to noon.
On Feb. 5, the spotlight turned to Chemistry, Construction Management, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science and Conservation, and Mathematics. This day hosted two sessions, one from 9 a.m. to noon, and a second from 3-6 p.m.
On Feb. 6, the focus was on Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Computer, Electrical, Industrial and Systems, Mechanical, and Software Engineering, Engineering Physics, Engineering Technology Management (ITM), Supply Chain Management and Sustainability and Renewable Energy Systems. This day also hosted two sessions, again from 9 a.m. to noon and from 3-6 p.m. respectively.
324 employers attended the event in total, as well as approximately 1400 students between all three days of the fair.
Trapper Mitchell, director of the Career and Professional Development Office, commented on the reception of the fair, “From my perspective, the fair went well! I have heard from many students that they had great conversations with employers, and many have already received requests for interviews. I believe more employers will reach out to invite students to an interview in the coming weeks.”
When asked why the career fair is important for students, Mitchell added “Getting a chance to talk to the representatives can help students see a bit of the company culture and what they value. More so than a job posting online. Many students have an idea of what they can do with their major, but there is often a lot more out there that is available and getting to talk to employer representatives can really help students find the path right for them.”
The Spring Career Fair was an amazing place for students and employers to connect. Students looking to attend the next career fair should have their resumes polished by Late September for the Fall Career fair.
