The University of Wisconsin-Platteville Student Senate is launching a new initiative to assess and improve student employment experiences across campus. The Student Employee Satisfaction Survey—developed by the Financial Affairs Committee and led by Senator Emma Follendorf, with support from Senators Amshul George, David Sievert, Jackson Crossen and Director Roland Gutknecht—aims to gather feedback from student employees regarding their workplace conditions, wages and overall treatment within various departments.
This anonymous survey will provide critical insights into how student workers feel about their jobs, allowing Student Senate to identify key areas for improvement and advocate for necessary changes. Whether it’s concerns about fair pay, scheduling flexibility, workplace culture or communication with supervisors, the data collected will serve as a foundation for discussions with university administration and department heads.
“Student employees are vital to the functioning of our university,” said Senator Follendorf. “Their voices deserve to be heard, and this survey is a step toward ensuring fair and equitable treatment for all.”
Unlike general campus surveys, access to this form is restricted to currently employed students to maintain the integrity of responses and avoid misuse. Due to this, the survey link will not be publicly posted. Instead, all eligible student employees will receive an official email with the link, ensuring secure participation.
Student Senate strongly encourages all student employees to take a few minutes to complete the survey. Higher response rates will provide a more comprehensive picture of employment conditions and strengthen the case for meaningful improvements.
For any questions or concerns regarding the survey, students can contact Student Senate by emailing [email protected] or attending a Student Senate meeting to voice their thoughts on Monday evenings at 5 p.m. in the University Rooms.
The survey marks a proactive step in enhancing student employment experiences at UW-Platteville, and Student Senate looks forward to using the collected data to drive positive change. Keep an eye on your university email for access to the survey and make your voice count!
