On a cold Saturday in early March, members of Farmhouse Fraternity’s chapter at UW-Platteville traveled to rural Sauk county to help Habitat for Humanity install a wheelchair ramp for a disabled veteran.
“Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to ensuring a safe and healthy home for those who’ve served our nation through our Veterans Build”, said Morgan Pfaff, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Wisconsin River Area. “Projects like these just wouldn’t be possible without the support of volunteers like Farmhouse Fraternity who are willing to give a day in service to others,” Pfaff stated.
Habitat’s Veterans Build and Aging in Place programs provide critical home repairs and accessibility modifications each year to over 100 residents across five counties in south-central Wisconsin. The program is made affordable for homeowners through volunteer labor and generous donations from local foundations such as the Sauey Family and Werndli Charitable Fund.
