Owen Strizic, 48, was arrested on March 31 in Alabama at around 2 a.m., according to the Elmore County Sherrif’s office. Strizic is a music teacher at Platteville Middle School and High School. He is being charged with electronic solicitation of a child and traveling to meet with a child for an unlawful sex act.
Strizic has turned in his resignation on April 3, according to a press release from Platteville School District officials. District officials additionally noted that they were made aware of Strizic’s arrest and emphasized that the alleged criminal activity did not involve any students in the Platteville School District.
Elmore County officials stated documents regarding the case were not yet available to the public. Officials from the Prattville Police Department, the arresting agency in Alabama handling the arrest, also declined to provide additional information, citing the ongoing investigation.
The Platteville School District stated in their release that the district “will support the investigation in any way we can.” They went on to say that “because this is a personal matter, we cannot share further details. Our focus at this time is on ensuring the safety and well-being of our students.”
