Students from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville have a chance to join other UW System students in the Dalkeith Palace in Dalkeith, Scotland, this spring
The trip is a part of Wisconsin in Scotland, a study abroad experience that offers courses in engineering.
Students and staff who go to Scotland will have the option to take a course in History of Engineering, which is not offered at UW-Platteville.
Michael Momot, a UW-Platteville professor of mechanical engineering, will teach the history course, statics and thermodynamics in Scotland.
Momot said he looks forward to teaching in the very same place James Watt began the study of thermodynamics.
“I have been all over Europe, but I haven’t been to Scotland,” Momot said. “As for other sights, I want to see Ireland.”
The study abroad group will also visit the Falkirk Wheel, a rotating boat lift.
It connects the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal and is truly the only one of its kind.
Donna Anderson, director of International Programs, said that the trip is set up just like other education abroad trips.
The set price will cover tuition, room and board and travel insurance. Separate fees include flight fare, passport and other items desired by the student. Interested engineering students can contact Dr. Momot or the Education Abroad office.
