Gribb named dean of College of EMS
Molly Gribb, professor at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, has been chosen to be the new dean of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville’s College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science.
Gribb grew up in Mount Horeb. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with degrees in civil engineering and environment textile design.
“Civil and environmental engineering was a great way for me to combine my background in textile science and chemistry with solving difficult environmental and water resource engineering problems,” Gribb said.
Before accepting the dean position, Gribb was the head of the civil and environmental engineering department at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Gribb was head of the department from 2010 until she accepted the Dean of EMS position at UW-Platteville.
“I was so excited to see the dean of the College of EMS position advertised last fall,” said Gribb. “I have always held UW-Platteville in very high regard and I was at a point in my career in which I was looking for the next leadership challenge. It seemed like the perfect opportunity and I am just delighted to have been selected to serve as your next dean of the College of EMS.”
Gribb has a key objective; to help the budget cuts that are going around, which is to develop other revenue sources and enhance partnerships with industries.
“The funding situation for higher education in Wisconsin is, unfortunately, not unique and the outlook for state support for higher education nationwide will continue to be a challenge,” Gribb said. “It is clear to me that UW-Platteville has been actively planning for future budget shortfalls for some time. I was really impressed by the information available on the web pages, transparent communication and inclusion of campus constituencies in the process.”
