Double the acts means double the laughs
The last University of Wisconsin-Platteville Stand-Up Saturday gave students a double dose of laughs. Last Comic Standing’s M. Dickson and YouTube sensation Pratshanth took the stage at Pioneer Crossing
The last Stand-Up Saturday of the school year featured Pratshanth and M. Dickson. This was the first time since Frangela that the event featured two comedians, which brought many laughs to the Markee Pioneer Student Center. Many of the people within the crowd knew the comedians before coming to the event.
Sophomore mechanical engineering major Tianna Robinson, knew of M. Dickson before she attended.
“I heard of her [M. Dickson] on Last Comic Standing because it’s one of my favorite shows. I was so excited to see her come here,” Robinson said.
M. Dickson has been featured in many shows across different channels. Most notably, she was on MTV’s Last Comic Standing and has had her writing featured in the “Weekend Update” on Saturday Night Live. Later this year, she is making her movie debut in Fugly!.
Pratshanth is a YouTube sensation that has been taking comedy by storm with his unorthodox style. He posts weekly videos on his channel and has got many to notice him because of it. Ever since Pratshanth became a sensation on the web, he has been performing for colleges and comedy clubs on his tour.
Not everyone knew the comedians that came to perform at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Some students decided to go to Stand-Up Saturday because they wanted comedic relief from the stresses their classes were causing them. This was the case for sophomore software engineering major, Logan Brinks. He said he had a tough schedule this semester and really wanted to see some of the comedians that came to campus. He was glad to be able to attend the last Stand Up Saturday of the year.
“I was really impressed with this month’s comics. I thought it was cool to see someone that was on Last Comic Standing come to Platteville,” Brinks said.
Ashley Langer, senior forensic investigation major, attended her first ever Stand-Up Saturday. She thought the comedians were very funny and kept the crowd engaged throughout the whole show.
“I thought it was really cool how they mentioned each other within their acts and referenced each other’s jokes,” Langer said.
