Comedian Vestal heats up UW-Platteville
The seats were filled on Saturday when students came out to see comedian Brandon Vestal at Stand-Up Saturday in the Pioneer Crossing. Vestal provided the audience with personal stories that were relateable.
One way he connected with the audience was by talking about Platteville.
“[Platteville is a] Very cool looking town during the day. Then it gets dark, and it’s the creepiest place I’ve ever been,” Vestal said.
Since Vestal lives in California, he joked about the frigidly cold temperatures in Wisconsin.
“I’m freezing to death. How cold does it get? Did you say negative 50? Really? And you go to school? Are there tunnels? I imagine summer school is very popular here. Negative 50… That’s gross,” Vestal said.
He joked about how fast food is trying to promote healthy menu options.
“McDonald’s selling salad makes about as much sense as a Vegas whore house with a bible study.” Vestal said. ”Taco Johns should come with a medical student that just follows you around.”
Vestal kept the crowd laughing in their seats throughout the night. He would ask the audience questions then he would a joke out of that response. Later in his act, he would refer back to the audience members who participated.
In one line he mentioned how he was watching a documentary about Adam and Eve and decided that if Eve would not have eaten the apple, we would be walking around naked.
“I was like damn. Why’d she eat that apple? Then I really started thinking about it. Thank God she ate that apple,” Vestal said. “I definitely wouldn’t live here. It’s way too cold to be walking around. It could ruin a guy’s reputation walking around here.”
He also commented on pools and the lifesaving instructions they have up in the area.
“Look at number four, it says we gotta put our mouth on his mouth and blow,” Vestal said. “Looks like Steve is going to die today.”
Vestal finished the night with the crowd laughing in their seats.
