Singer Accused of Six Counts of Sexual Abuse

Alexander O’Connor, 24, singer of Rex County Orange has had six counts of sexual abuse made against him. He appeared in Southwark Court, London, on Oct. 10.

According to an article from the New York Post, “The singer’s accuser alleges he sexually assaulted her twice in West London on June 1, and an additional four times the following day, including once in a taxi and the other three times in his Notting Hill home.”

The woman who accused O’Connor has yet to be named.

At the initial hearing, O’Connor pleaded not guilty to the sexual abuse charges. In a statement released by O’Connor’s representative, “Alex is shocked by the allegations, which he denies, and looks forward to clearing his name in court… He is unable to make any further comments because of the ongoing proceedings.”

After four studio albums, O’Connor was in the middle of his tour in Europe; he had his last show in August before canceling the rest of the tour.

O’Connor made an Instagram post sharing the cancellation of the tour that stated, “This is the last thing I want to do. I love touring and I’m so sorry to be letting anyone down. I look forward to getting back to it as soon as I can.”

After the allegations, many fans are regretting buying his memorabilia and some had even gotten tattoos based on his songs that they no longer want. On social media, fans are destroying Rex Orange County records and talking about being saddened due to the accusations.

O’Connor was released on unconditional bail with a provisional trial on Jan. 3, 2023. Unconditional bail includes paying the bail amount without conditions set by the court.
