On Dec. 17, Marvel released the third movie in the Spiderman trilogy, “Spiderman: No Way Home,” taking place immediately after the second Spiderman movie, “Spiderman: Far from Home.”

The last movie, ended with Mysterio releasing the identity of Spiderman as Peter Parker and claiming he is a murderer.

Viewers know that Mysterio was the true villain, but the public in the movie knows him to be a hero. Ending with a panic, everyone in the world thinks that Spiderman is a murderer.

The third movie begins where the second ended, with a misleading video of Mysterio revealing Parker’s identity. Parker is sent to trial along with his friend and girlfriend as accomplices. Parker and his friends are deemed not guilty, and they try to continue their senior year of high school. Though acquitted, the public still sees Parker as a murderer.

Parker seeks the help of his friend, Dr. Strange, in hopes of fixing his situation. Strange agrees to help by
performing a spell that wipes away the public’s memory of
Parker as Spiderman. Complications arise with the spell, which ultimately opens the multiverse. The multiverse has been mentioned in multiple Marvel films and shows that lead up to this point in the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline.

Due to the spell, Spiderman villains from different universes arrive in the main Marvel timeline. Villains such as Dr. Octopus, Sandman, Green Goblin, Electro and the Lizard are from the older Spiderman movies, starring Tobey Maguire (2002-2007) and Andrew Garfield (2012-2014).Spiderman tries to aid the multiverse villains and send them back to the universes they came from, but they all have setbacks.

Thanks to a surprising twist ending and broken hearts, many movie viewers are left confused and saddened. This movie did not disappoint, and it was surprisingly unpredictable. It will be exciting and interesting to see where Marvel will take this storyline considering that the ending changes everything about Parker.

The next movie in the Marvel Universe, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” will be released on May 6th, 2022, hopefully giving some clarity to the multiverse.
