“Thunderstorms in my Room”

I used to love thunderstorms
The thunder rattling the walls of my house
Lightening flashing light on my stuffed animals,
Letting me know there’s nothing lurking in the shadows
Rain soothing my young body to sleep

I started to dislike thunderstorms
The thunder is so loud it wakes me up
Lightening so bright it hurts my eyes
Rain constantly hitting the window, driving me to insanity

I have developed a hatred for thunderstorms
The thunder rattles the walls of my brain
Lightening flashes light on my loneliness
Rain soothes the thoughts taking over my life

Sometimes, just sometimes
I still love thunderstorms,
The thunder being heard for miles
Lightening lighting up the dark sky
Rain watering the trees and plants

I love thunderstorms, except
I dislike the ones that ruin good things.
I love thunderstorms, but
I hate the ones that are in my room
And they never seem to leave
