Hungry Games (Antagonist)

UW-Platteville will host a “Hunger Games” style competition to determine which majors to cut due to the budget carnage.

In efforts to reduce hostility among all departments with staff and students, the university will be hosting a no-holds-barred, fight to the death competition this upcoming Saturday.

Each department will have a raffle to determine which two students per department will have to compete. The raffle will be on Friday at 5 PM in the MPSC.

“It’s cool, cool, cool. I see where it’s going,” Steve Yunck, media studies professor, said.

The games will be held in the stadium and the arena is still under construction. As of this publication, the theme or layout of the arena has not been announced yet.

While many professors believe it is a positive way to determine which major would be cut, some professors are still wary.

“I usually tell my students on Friday to be safe. Don’t drink and drive, don’t text and drive, don’t text in crosswalks and watch out for people who do. I guess for two of my students, this won’t apply,” Mary Rose Williams, media studies professor, said.

The games will start at 7 PM at the stadium. Any student or staff with an ID can purchase tickets for the event at $5 per ticket; regular ticket price is $10. Food and refreshment will be supplied and seating is limited.

May the odds be ever in your favor and what a great day to be a Pioneer!
