Faculty Senate passes proposal to increase faculty pay

Faculty Senate passed a proposal that would use $150,000 to increase faculty base pay from funds the administration has said are available for pay raises.

The Campus Faculty Salary Base Building Policy was drafted by mathematics professor James Swenson and passed with two dissenting votes.

“Everyone is conflicted because there are many good things we want to do and not enough money to do all of them,” Swenson said.

The policy is part of an ongoing discussion on how to recruit and retain faculty members.
