Several days after rebounding a soccer ball off his head and into the goal for a game-winner against Grinnell College, Mark Ciszewski was named the WIAC Player of the Week. Ciszewki’s game-winning goal was one of three goals he scored that week.
This is Ciszewski’s fourth year playing on the UW-Platteville men’s soccer team. Ciszewski, a senior majoring in business administration, came to UW-Platteville from Germantown, Wisc.
Ciszewski was surprised when he received a text from Athletic Director Mark Molesworth describing his WIAC Player of the Week achievement. “It was cool to be honored, but I couldn’t have done it without my team, ” Ciszewski said.
Head Coach Enzo Fuschino, who is in his sixth year of coaching Pioneers men’s soccer, noted the hard work Ciszewski puts in during the season and off-season. “He’s always at the right place at the right time,” Fuschino said. Fuschino used the words hardworking and relentless to describe Ciszewski.
Ciszewski said he contributes to the overall team in a contagious way. “(I bring) Energy. People see me working hard then they want to do it.”
Michael Prudisch has been team captain of men’s soccer since the off-season of his sophomore year. “(Ciszewski) is always putting 100% in,” Prudisch said. He also noted leadership and mentor skills Ciszewski contributes to the team. This is Prudisch’s third year playing soccer with Ciszewski.
Ciszewski has many goals set for the rest of the season. “As a team, I would like to get home field advantage for the NCAA tournament,” Ciszewski said. He wants the team to stay focused, keeping their eyes on the big picture – the tournament.
Ciszewski is also a member of a campus club called collegiate entrepreneurs organization (C.E.O.) and after graduating, he would like to stay in Wisconsin and find a career suitable to his degree.
