Orner, Depies lead women’s cross country

The women’s cross country team held their first home meet Oct. 6 at Cole Acres in Cuba City, which will also be the location for the 2012 WIAC Cross Country Championships later this month.

Alyssa Duncan and Paeton Wantuch finished the race strong for University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, getting first and second place. Duncan (24:35.4) took first place while Wantuch (24:54.2) placed second.

The next five runners across the finish line were Pioneers. Junior Jocelyn Orner (24:57.4), freshmen Kiera Depies (24:59.4), Teagan Seneczko (25:04.5), and then team captains junior Olivia Bukowski (25:06.6) and senior Megan Knutson (25:07.2) took third through seventh.

The women’s cross country team will travel on Oct. 13 for the Drews-Neubauer Invite at Maple Grove Golf Course in West Salem, WI.

The Drews-Neubaner Invite is the team’s second to last competition before the WIAC Championships Oct. 27.
