Dillman tabbed Athlete of Week

University of Wisconsin-Platteville senior sprinter Deidre Dillman was named WIAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for Jan. 20-27. Dillman took first in the 400-meter run with a time of 59.56 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Triangular. She is ranked ninth in NCAA Division III in the 400.

Wrestling nabs two wins at MSOE

The Pioneer wrestling swept both duals over the weekend in Milwaukee, defeating Lakeland College, 28-15, and Milwaukee School of Engineering 33-14. The Pioneers were led by junior 174 pounder Austin Holland, sophomore heavyweight Cody Soderstrom and freshman Cole Ferguson, all of whom won both of their matches on Saturday. The team competes next at the Duhawk Open in Dubuque, Iowa.

Pioneer Sparkles debuted Saturday

The Pioneer Sparkles, a team of special-needs cheerleaders, made their debut on Bo Ryan Court at halftime of the men’s basketball game Saturday. The team, comprised of special-needs students from the tri-state area, is the first special-needs cheerleading team at the collegiate level. Check next week’s Exponent for a full story on the squad.
