10,000 steps? More like 10,000 calories at UW-P

Student Health Services is hosting yet another 10,000 step program at University of Wisconsin-Platteville.  Instead of students participating in this program, they are sitting in Platters stuffing their faces with its so-called “food.”

To the kid who is actually “participating,” tapping your foot with the pedometer on your ankle does not count as 5,000 steps.  Get your lazy ass up and walk from Ullsvik Hall to the Engineering Hall, instead of bribing your friend for a ride.

One might also think that the students who live in Rountree Commons would have lost weight by walking up the “big hill” every day.  But, instead, they have gained weight because it’s a shorter walk downhill to McDonald’s.

And to those of you graduating in May or think you are graduating; next you time you catch yourself face first in a KFC Pot Pie, you might want to opt for a salad.  Here’s why: your qualifications and experience might get you an interview, but not the job.  It’s more expensive for employers to hire obese individuals, hence the reason your skinny friend just got offered your dream job.

Platteville students, you might want to reconsider and take part in the 10,000 step challenge.  Or, here’s an idea, just take the first step and walk the stairs for once.

P.S. Yoga Pants are not one size fits all.
